Drinking eight glasses of water every day is one of the most important health habits we always try to instil and grow in our family, especially the children. Aside from replenishing the body of lost fluids, water also helps regulate body temperature; moisten tissues in the eyes, mouth and nose; carry oxygen and nutrients to cells; dissolve minerals and nutrients for better absorption; and flush out toxins and wastes.
However, this essential nutrient can also cause illnesses and life-threatening diseases. This is because not all available water is safe to drink. Even those that come from trusted water sources, such as water refilling stations, may be contaminated with toxic chemicals, small impurities and bacteria that can be invisible to the naked eye.
