Using an assortment of 75 criteria that look at a country’s progress in areas such as entrepreneurship, cultural influence, business-friendly policies and economic progress, Germany beat out Canada and the United Kingdom to take the top spot in the inaugural “Best Countries” rankings, as compiled by U.S. News & World Report in partnership with BAV Consulting and Wharton.

2. Germany – the best country which included factors like well developed infrastructure and legal framework, tech expertise and an educated population) and ranked it very high for power, citizenship and quality of life.
3.Canada – for quality of life, followed closely by its rankings for citizenship, being open for business and entrepreneurship.
4. Sweden – came out tops in citizenship (which encompasses things like human rights, environmental consciousness, gender equality and general trustworthiness) and ranked second for both quality of life and perception of being open for business.
5. Japan – Those who think of Japanese business culture as traditional may be surprised that it’s seen as the second most entrepreneurial nation in the survey. It may be less of a surprise that it’s also near the top in the “movers” category (based on a distinctive and dynamic culture) and cultural heritage.
6. Netherlands- Dutch society ranked high in terms of citizenship, entrepreneurship, being open for business and quality of life. Like France, it also came in the bottom tier in the movers category.
